cotton wrapped around pins. layers and layers.
visual merchandising. a joke.

a few tweaks to my blog. i have big plans for it.
i just need to plan and create.

April 10, 2011

my posts have become a monthly occurrence.
i have been stuck with what to write.
i apologise.

now a year older,
i have reached the 'adult stage' of pay at work.
turning another year older meant a pay increase.
i used to look forward to the day.
spotlight would up the ante.
but now it is just a flat rate.
to be honest, i am a little disappointed.
what can you do.

for my birthday i was lucky enough to receive this illustration.
by ghostpatrol, my favourite illustrator.
all i need now is a frame and a picture hook.
i'll hang it on my wall.

i sit here, candle burning, middle east on repeat;
the weather is marvelous today.
a lazy day, just what i needed.

all of a sudden the sky has turned dark.
daylight savings or the end of daylight savings,
(i can never work out which it is)
has messed up my days.

i will be back soon.

March 3, 2011

it is now march. and there are thirty days until my twenty first.
an event i have not put any thought into yet. my mother keeps
bugging me about it. i guess that is what mothers are good at.

a cold snap is also here. i am enjoying it immensely. along with
this weather however, comes laziness. not wanting to leave my
lovely warm bed. drinking too much hot tea, continuously, having
to purchase milk and sugar to satisfy this need.

of late, i have been listening to bright eyes noise floor rarities,
1998-2005, and also their new album, the people's key. i am
contently obsessed with both right now.

i captured the photo above two years ago. it is the view from the
top of the stairwell in the gallery 'until never', located just off
hosier lane. if you know me at all, you will be aware of my
attraction to fairylights. they are not a harsh fluorescent light,
which makes them all the more worth while.

hello there, folk.
it has been awhile. the weather has changed. autumn is here. almost.
cold days. cold nights; it is great.

i have realised something. by saying something outloud, it automatically makes it seem real, seem true.
keeping it in your mind, only creates an illusion. perhaps this illusion is a good thing. that way, it can
seem perfect and not be complicated. i have said it outloud. and now it is true. shattered.

my vm course is going swell. lovely people. we are learning how to write properly. this goes against all my
design principles. type should not be hand written when merchandising a store. it makes it look cheap
and nasty. apparently i am incorrect. who hand writes sale signs? jb is a store that comes to mind. however,
they are cheap. and nasty.
i have been given the task to re design the spotlight store windows. a duo project. two designers. a new friend.
i am excited. i was told to put some thought into it. in my free time, sure! not that i have much.

i will keep you posted.

attachment is unavoidable.
whether it be a place, an item of clothing
a person, an object or a thought.

limited time can encourage attachment.
wanting more, feeling safe.
everything feels just right when you are in the company.

but boundless time, can motivate.
bind you together so you are apart of it.

park street was attachment.
racing back, because that is where i felt safe.
high above the streets.
no one could get inside, unless you had a key.
avoiding eye contact with neighbours, just to be polite.
3am wait ups, which will never happen again.
unusual invitations, posted on the plaster.
misplaced crockery, returning with a sorry.
pickupsticks and hiccups.
a friendship that is remarkable. forever.

these memories, all good.
some bad, but why dwell.
we now look back and laugh. thankyou.

at last everything is set up.
the green walls now house all of my belongings.
the little courtyard,
the odd hallway leading nowhere.
all having a sense of home.
a few little mishaps,
but they are all sorted out now.
soon, the schooling semester will begin.
goodbye to sleep ins and lazy days.
i will keep you posted.
i now have internet.

December 17, 2010

in the past twelve months i,

moved spotlight stores.
travelled on an aeroplane.
knitted four scarves.
completed a bachelor of communication design.
learnt how to make paper cranes.
waited three hours in a line to get into a music festival.
purchased the entire box set of love my way.
attended the finders keepers market, twice.
travelled to the end of the train line.
opened a home saver account.
added a new mac to my collection.
attended more live gigs than ever.
turned twenty.
changed my lifestyle.
witnessed a fire at a chinese restaurant.
grew to appreciate trams.
stole the title of mayor for our house from my housemate.
convinced everyone that it was quite okay to carry a suitcase everywhere.
was honest with someone about how i truly felt, and resulted in losing the friendship.
fell in love with marshmallows.
laughed so hard that no sound would escape.
found out why 80spaces is called 80spaces.
became a regular on the cranbourne/pakenham line.
spontaneously decided one morning to cut myself a full front fringe.
blew up 50 plus balloons for my housemates 21st.
walked through dry sand with wet feet.
attended a tweet up
became the proud tenants of a house for 2011

twenty ten has been great.

i wish these flowers grew on my balcony.

November 20, 2010

on thursday i said my farewells
to swinburne university.
three years in the lovely confines of the PA building
have come to an end.

'whats the big plan for next year'

i do not know yet.
quit asking.

November 16, 2010

what a cute envelope.

this was a project that i did
for the finders keepers market.

the only restriction was two colours.
inspired by my housemates, (ally_lousie) list on her blog,
and because i needed one more thing to add to my procrastination for the morning,
here is my list. there is no real time frame for these tasks to be completed.
but the period between friday and march perhaps would be ideal.

- purchase a briefcase
- stay with my grandma
- cull my jewellery
- meet a lovely boy
- see the jezabels live
- raid pas house and grab the wardrobe
- visit my parents house
- have a picnic
- 80spaces one more time
- read a book
- complete third year of university
- illustrate
- sew a skirt
- obtain my licence
- 6am walk
- read simplicity
- purchase more fairylights
- go on a ghost tour
- learn sleepyhead on the piano
- travel to the end of the line
